Waiting to board

Hey, so I made it through security without a problem. The line was pretty long and intimidating, but it turned out to move pretty quickly. Right now I’m waiting at gate C16 in Portland Intl. I took about 12 pictures of the drive in and the airport itself, but the images got corrupted. Ugh! I’m going to take a few more pictures now, but I’ll append them to this post after I submit.

Southwest flight

It’s currently 10:49 AM and my flight leaves at 11:25 AM, so I’ve got a few more minutes yet. My flight has a short stop in Oakland before finally arriving at my destination in Ontario at around 2:45 PM. As for transportation from the airport to the college, I still have to figure that out. Hopefully I can get one of my friends at the college to help me out.

I’m flying Southwest Airlines, so they have the strange boarding system. Basically, they require you to race all of the other passengers on your flight to check in 24 hrs before your flight departs. The five minutes before 11:25 AM yesterday, I was constantly refreshing the check-in page to see if it was open yet. I ended up getting through around 11:24:30 AM on Sunday, but by that time I was somehow already A26. I don’t know how those people beat me. =P

Anyways, here’s some pictures of PDX from the web. Hopefully I’ll have time to add my pictures in a few minutes, but I’ll probably have to wait until I get to Oakland or Ontario.

Hey Kevin - Thanks for flying with us. As I’m sure you know, we recently made some changes to our boarding system. Our goal was to improve the experience for everyone by eliminating the perceived need to camp out in line. If this is your first time trying the new system, I’d love to hear what you think after you’ve had the chance to expereince it.

I’ll check back here or you can leave a comment on our blog at http://www.blogsouthwest.com/2008/01/14/new-boarding-process-after-the-holidays/.

    Have a great trip!
